The 8th Annual Festival Cultures Parade at St. Anastasia School

The 8th annual end of the year Festival Cultures Parade at St. Anastasia School in Waukegan, educating children from kindergarten through 8th grade, of different countries with different cultures than the normal ones of America.  From left, Kaitlan Moran and Lori Vitaioli (in tye-dye's), learn about the cultures of Brazil, with luring illustrations, pictures, and flags.  (Mark Ukena/Sun-Times Media)

Mrs. Bray passes out flags of Jamaica to her 5th grade class, uniquely connected to rulers, to serve for a greater purpose than just a novelty flag.  (Mark Ukena/Sun-Times Media)

Children look at all sorts of educational books and masks to learn more about the cultures of foreign countries, this being of Jamaica.  (Mark Ukena/Sun-Times Media)

From left, Angel Henderson and Amirah Bailey, both age 11 of Waukegan, touch a Jamaican Tribal totem type mask made out of wood, to feel the hand made carvings.  (Mark Ukena/Sun-Times Media)

Sam Below and Kaitlan Martinez hold the theme sign in the front of the parade, to show all spectators what they're all about.  (Mark Ukena/Sun-Times Media)

The Mounted Police that usually lead the parade are replaced by David Sivia, holding our flag, Mekenzie May as Lady Liberty, and Christian Santana as Uncle Sam.  (Mark Ukena/Sun-Times Media)
